About Toba

Toba Cooper is an associate at Bereskin & Parr. She is part of the Trademark, Copyright, and Litigation and Contentious IP group.

Toba’s practical, business-focused practice focuses on trademark acquisition and brand management, copyright strategy and advisory work, copyright and trademark dispute resolution, litigation, licensing and transactions. Toba enjoys working closely with her clients on IP strategy with a view to maximizing IP asset value brand protection. Toba has nearly a decade of experience advising, assisting, and collaborating with brand owners large and small, entrepreneurs, and creators in strategizing, acquiring, commercializing, and protecting their rights in Canada and beyond.  Toba regularly represents clients in trademark and copyright matters before the Provincial and Federal Courts including actions and applications for passing off, depreciation of goodwill, and trademark and copyright infringement. She also has experience before the Trademarks Opposition Board in opposition and non-use cancellation (section 45) proceedings. Toba has been recognized as a “Rising Star” by IP Stars since 2021 and has been named in “Best Lawyers in Canada: Ones to Watch” since 2022.

Outside of the office Toba loves tending to her garden, creating in the pottery studio, volunteering for the Hospital for Sick Children, and most of all raising her two tiny redheads.
