Eyes on the Prize

Bereskin & Parr awards various prizes to students across all backgrounds each year. Our university prizes program highlights our commitment to supporting the legal education of students and furthers our ongoing work to foster diversity within the STEM discipline as well as other fields. The prizes are awarded based on academic standings and achievements or the recommendations of the faculty. To learn more about the prize and scholarship offers based on your needs, speak to your faculty advisor or our Human Resources team to assist you.

Dalhousie University

  • Bereskin & Parr Prize: Awarded to the student who achieves the highest mark in the Patents course.

McGill University

  • Bereskin & Parr Prize in Intellectual and Industrial Property: Awarded to the student with the highest standing in Law of Intellectual and Industrial Property. (If not offered, for distinguished writing in the field.)

Queen’s University

  • Bereskin & Parr Prize in Patent Law: Awarded annually to the student with the highest standing in Patent Law.

University of Alberta

  • Bereskin & Parr Prize in Intellectual Property Law: Awarded annually to the student with superior academic achievement in Intellectual Property (LAW 518). The award is made on the recommendation of the Faculty of Law.

University of British Columbia

  • Bereskin & Parr Prize in Industrial and Intellectual Property: Awarded to the student obtaining the highest marks in Law 422 (Intellectual Property) or otherwise exhibiting exceptional academic ability in this area of law. The award is made on the recommendation of the Faculty of Law.

University of Montréal

  • Bereskin & Parr Prix: Awarded annually to the student with the highest standing in Intellectual Property Law.

University of New Brunswick

  • Bereskin & Parr Prize in Intellectual Property: Awarded annually to the student with the highest standing in Intellectual Property Law. The award is made on the recommendation of the Law Faculty Council.

University of Ottawa (Civil Law)

  • Bereskin & Parr Prize: Awarded to the student with the highest standing in Industrial and Intellectual Property (DRC 4711).
  • Bereskin & Parr Admission Scholarship: Awarded to an undergraduate student and member of a racialized or Indigenous community entering first year at the Faculty of Law, Civil Law Section.

University of Ottawa (Common Law)

  • Bereskin & Parr Prize: Awarded to the student with the highest standing in Introduction to Intellectual and Industrial Property Law.

University of Sherbrooke

  • Prix Bereskin & Parr: Awarded to the student with the highest standing in the Intellectual Property Law course.

University of Toronto

  • Bereskin & Parr Prize: Awarded to the student with the highest standing in a course, or courses concerned with intellectual property.
  • Bereskin & Parr Hatchery Award: Supports innovative research and opens new doors for University of Toronto Students.
  • Bereskin & Parr LLP Bursary: Awarded to a JD student entering 1L who identifies as Black or Indigenous, with financial need. Preference will be given to those students that have an undergraduate degree in a STEM discipline.

Toronto Metropolitan University

  • Bereskin & Parr Prize in Intellectual Property: Awarded to a third-year student who excelled in the second-year course of the same name, who demonstrates exceptional promise and aptitude in the area of law.

University of Windsor

  • Bereskin & Parr Prize in Industrial and Intellectual Property: Awarded annually to the student attaining the highest standing in any industrial and intellectual property course taught at the University of Windsor during the present academic year.

Western University

  • Bereskin & Parr Award in Industrial and Intellectual Property: Awarded to the student who exhibits exceptional academic ability in the area of industrial and intellectual property law.
  • Bereskin & Parr LLP Scholarship in the Faculty of Law: Awarded annually to an undergraduate student entering first year in the Faculty of Law, based on academic achievement in pre-Law studies who is Indigenous or self identifies as Black.  Preference will be given to students with a post-secondary degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics).

York University (Osgoode Hall Law School)

  • Bereskin & Parr Prize in Copyright Law
  • Bereskin & Parr Prize in Patents Law
  • Bereskin & Parr Prize in Trade Mark Law

Up to three prizes to be awarded to the students with the highest standing in a course or seminar in the field of industrial and intellectual property law.
