Bereskin & Parr's Seminar: Software Patents Are Evil (and Other Myths) & Trademarks in the 21st Century

March 29, 2016

Waterloo's Bereskin & Parr team discuss a detailed look at two cutting edge issues in intellectual property law.

Software Patents Are Evil (and Other Myths)

Software patents are a terrible thing… aren’t they? Jason Hynes, a lawyer and patent agent with over a decade of experience in this area will talk candidly about what’s true – and what’s complete nonsense – when it comes to software patents. He’ll also provide some tips about what recent US cases actually mean for Canadian companies.

Trademarks in the 21st Century

The writing is on the wall that trademarks are changing, as Canada modernizes its trademarks system and adopts international rules. Liz Afolabi, a lawyer and trademark agent, will talk about some of the looming changes, when they are coming, and how they may affect your business.
