Passing of David Langton, retired partner and friend

April 15, 2021

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our retired partner and friend, David Langton on April 12, 2021. David joined the firm in 1974 after emigrating to Canada from the U.K. with his wife and two young children. Before joining the firm, David had qualified as a Chartered Patent Agent in the U.K. and Registered Patent Attorney in Europe. He quickly became qualified as both a patent agent and trademark agent in Canada and a patent agent in the United States. David became a partner in the firm in 1978 and served on many firm committees including the Executive and Office Administration Committees. David was instrumental in the growth of the firm and the development of our associates, acting as a mentor to many and friend to all. He also served important roles with the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada (IPIC) and was the President of IPIC from 1994-1995. Through his work with many international clients and organizations including FICPI, EPI, ITMA, IPIC, AIPPI, and CIPA, David was known around the world for his intelligence, competence, and kindness. He will truly be missed.

Our deepest condolences go out to his wife Millie Waicus and his children James (Carolyn) and Clare (Dave) and his cherished granddaughters Hannah, Ella, Ava, and Fiona.
